Position Purpose
A Labourer’s purpose includes the following but not limited to:
- Assist in the New Installation of Line Marking/Colour Surfacing on Roads; Car Parks; Airports & Clients Premises
- Undertake the preparation required to install & removal of Line Marking/Colour Surfacing
- Complete Pre-start & all associated paperwork
- Maintain High Standard of work ethics
- Ensure Safety of all on-site
- On-site Communication with all other workers on-site in a calm manner
- Control all trafficable movement around your work site
- Knowledge & understanding of the impact on the Environment due to unsafe work procedures
- Knowledge, understanding and adhering to Company Policies & Procedures
- Ability to work on a team to keep works going
- Communicate calmly & clearly with Pedestrians, Cyclists & all motorists to maintain a safe work area
- To assist Team Leader when required
Labourers should ensure that they arrive for duty in clean and presentable clothing, clean boots and properly maintained PPE. Turn out and bearing should not only reflect pride in one’s self but reflect favourably on Global Road Maintenance Systems as a company. Your turn out and bearing also have a direct impact on your effectiveness as an Employee. The more effective you are, the safer your work site is, and consistency of work is maintained.
Experience
Preferred previous line marking experience or construction experience.

Detailed Work Activities
- Attend all Pre-Start Toolboxes prior to commencing work
- Perform all tasks associated with schedule of works for site
- Effectively assist in installation of Line Marking/Colour Installation. Participate in professional development, including knowledge of Acts, Regulations, Codes of Practice and Standards. Daily Tasks include, but are not limited to:
Accurately complete Line Marking/Colour Installation Truck Checklist prior to leaving depot
Load & Unload trucks with materials required for installation for works
Mask up areas, Tape off areas & Measure areas that are for Line Marking/Colour Installation
Assist in all Installation Systems
Sign on to SWMS & Site Hazard Assessments
Obey instructions from Team Leaders, Company Managers, or MR & Safety inspectors and auditor
Clean Global Road Maintenance Systems vehicles and signage on a regular basis
Help Team Leader set up site as requested
Clean up & Pack up Site leaving no waste behind as per Company Environmental Policy
Conditions of work
- Have your Civil Construction card on your persons at all time whilst on-site
- Work is generally on active Roads, Highways and Freeways
- Work can also be on bridges, and overpasses
- The majority of work is outdoors in hot weather conditions
- Work is also performed under conditions that may expose staff to dust, smoke, electricity, railroad traffic, loud noise and uneven footing and other associated worksite conditions
- During the course of your duties you may be subject to various different jobsites and conditions. Global Road Maintenance Systems employees are expected to act in a professional manner at all times.
- You must at times wear PPE gear and have your fully charged radio with you at all times
- You may at times be required to wear additional PPE such as a Hard Hat on specific worksites, of safety glasses

About The Role
As a Labourer you will be responsible for helping set up Line Marking/Colour Surfacing trucks & assisting in all works onsite for the day’s work schedule on your crew.
This job requires regular physical manual effort. You will be required to be constantly moving for 6 to 10 hours per day handling materials and equipment.
As a Labourer you will work closely with co-workers to ensure the safe management of work zones for all Global Road Maintenance Systems Clients.
The hours you will work may vary from day to day, and season to season. Work is done to suit Global Road Maintenance Systems Clientele schedules and needs, this may occur on any day or at any time of the day or night.
Global Road Maintenance Systems requires all staff to present for duty in a fit and in proper state, a minimum of fifteen (15) minutes prior to the start of each shift time stipulated.
