What Is High Friction Anti-Skid Road Surfacing?
High friction surface treatment (HFST) is a thin-layer safety treatment. It bonds calcined bauxite aggregate to a sound road surface with a durable resin binder. The result is a hard, highly textured finish that improves tyre grip, shortens braking distances and helps drivers keep control under heavy braking.
Because HFST is applied over the existing pavement, it improves skid resistance without replacing the road. That makes it a practical option for targeted safety upgrades on busy Sydney roads.
